Methadone
Methadone is a long-acting maintenance treatment for heroin users. Methadone is an opioid, making it the most powerful medication. Methadone affects many of the same areas in your brain as methadone. However, it takes much longer to reach a heroin high and has less severe withdrawal symptoms than methadone. In fact, it can usually be stopped earlier. Its main short-term use is for opioid addiction.
